Houthi terrorists from Yemen again attacked Tel Aviv and its surroundings with a ballistic missile, while Hezbollah resumed its rocket fire on Tiberias and Haifa several hours later on Friday morning.

Shortly after midnight, alarm sirens blared across large swathes of central Israel, while many parts of the country observed a ballistic missile fired from Yemen being shot down by the IDF’s Arrow defense system.

Video footage from Jerusalem showed a missile in the sky above large crowds in the Old City and near the Western Wall, who were gathered for Selichot prayers. Although no alarm sirens were activated, the ballistic missile and the Arrow interceptor were visible to the naked eye.

Last night, after midnight, we heard something new in Jerusalem: The roar of an incoming ballistic missile from Yemen. It was taken out by an Arrow (Hetz) interceptor, but not before someone in the crowd in the Old City caught a clip of it.

According to the IDF: “The alarms and explosions that were heard are the result of the interception process and the fragments from the interception… As of this stage, there is no change in the directives of the Home Front Command.”

Army Radio reported that the interception took place outside of the atmosphere, causing missile fragments to scatter across wide areas. It was allegedly the reason sirens were activiated across central Israel, including Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Petah Tikva, Ramle and Lod, Modi’in and several other cities.

While the attack didn’t result in any direct injuries, the Magen David Adom rescue service said a 17-year-old girl was moderately wounded after being struck by a car pulling to the side of the road amid the alarm sirens.

In addition, 17 people were treated for light injuries while falling on the way to shelters or as the result of acute anxiety.

During the night, the Houthis published a statement claiming to have attacked Israel in retaliation for the killing of Muhammad Hussein Sarour in Beirut, Lebanon, on Thursday. Sarour served as Hezbollah’s envoy to Yemen and trained the Houthis to use Iranian-made drones.

Several hours later on Friday morning, Hezbollah forces resumed rocket fire with three barrages fired at Tiberias and the area near the Sea of Galilee. Another barrage fired at Haifa and its surroundings.

In Tiberias, a man was moderately wounded by shrapnel and evacuated to a hospital. Two people were hurt while running to shelters.

After the second barrage, Tiberias Mayor Yossi Neva said, “Today we already experienced two alarms and also falls. Fortunately, most of the falls were in the Kinneret, but there are also impacts inside the city. It is very important to obey the instructions of the Home Front Command. For Shabbat, we ask to minimize movement on the streets.”

Mia Merlanjon-Aharoni, who came to row in the Sea of Galilee, witnessed several rockets falling into the lake.

“I was standing in the water next to the kayak, we heard alarms and three black smoke mushrooms appeared in front of me in the water followed by deafening booms,” she told Ynet News.

In Haifa, a volley of around 10 rockets set off alarms in the city center and several suburbs in the Krayot area, with shrapnel damaging two buildings and a car. At least one rocket landed in the sea, according to reports.

Within hours, the IDF announced it had struck the launchers used by Hezbollah to attack Haifa in southern Lebanon.

The IDF also said it shot down four drones off the coast of Rosh Hanikra in the Western Galilee.

In addition, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) claimed to have fired two drones at the Golan Heights and a cruise missile at a “vital target in Israel.”

There were no reports of an attack in the Golan Heights at the time of publication.
