Provincial police reined in two suspected impaired drivers in less than an hour in unrelated incidents Saturday night.

The first occurred just before 11 p.m. when OPP stopped a vehicle travelling at 140 km/h on Highway 417 near Moodie Drive.

While speaking with the driver, the investigating officer determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The 29-year-old driver was also a G2 driver.

He was charged with impaired driving, speeding and having a blood-alcohol count above zero, due to his G2 driver status.

Meanwhile, shortly before 11:30 p.m., OPP were called a two-vehicle collision on Highway 416 near Hunt Club Road.

The investigating officer determined that one of the drivers in the collision had also been consuming alcohol. However, the driver refused to provide a breath sample to police.

The 28-year-old driver was charged with failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and unsafe lane changes.

The drivers in both incidents received a 90-day driving suspension and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.

Both are to appear in court in October.
