- Manufacturers use a scale of 1-10 to measure a mattress’s firmness, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest. Most mattresses fall in the medium-firm range of 6-7. While these numbers can be helpful, they’re subjective and shouldn’t be considered fact.
