The “Jane Says” musicians’ statement came hours after Perry’s wife, Etty Farrell, shared a video of the brawl to her Instagram account.

In the clip, the “Godfather of Alternative Music,” 65, could be seen angrily singing into the mic before slamming his body into Navarro, 57, during a show at the Leader Bank Pavilion music venue in Boston.

Perry then began shouting at the former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist, who tried to keep his bandmate away by placing his forearm on his chest.

Perry threw a punch at his bandmate before they were separated by crew members.

Navarro could be seen placing his guitar on the stage before walking away.

While the cause of the fight is still unknown, Etty revealed on Instagram that there had been some “tension and animosity” surrounding the guys leading up to the incident.

“Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band,” she wrote.

“Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.”

Etty, 49, also claimed that a different altercation occurred behind the stage, with bassist Eric Avery, 59, putting “Perry in a headlock and [punching] him in the stomach three times.”

The dancer said her husband, whom she wed in 2002, became “a crazed beast” in the 30 minutes following the fight and then “cried and cried.”

Jane’s Addiction did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
