Smokeless fire pits work by promoting secondary combustion. “The double-wall construction allows air to enter through vents at the bottom, heat up as it rises between the walls, and then exit through vents at the top of the fire pit,” says Eric Tamminga, owner of Iron Embers, in Ontario, Canada. “This preheated air mixes with the smoke, burning off particulates and reducing smoke output.”
