ILORIN – Tunde Sanni, technical adviser began his career as chief helmsan of Kwara United Football Club with a home loss to Niger Tornadoes of Minna in Ilorin.
But the coach acknowledged that his wards froze at the onslaughts of the visiting team.
Niger Tornadoes won the game by 1-2, making the Ilorin game one of the startling matches in the Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL, this season.
Remo Stars in defeated Abia Warriors in Umuahia by 0-2.
Enyimba of Aba defeated Heartland FC by 1-3 in Owerri.
But the Ilorin home defeat might not have been totally unexpected given that Tornadoes have always been a difficult nut to crack for Kwara United in the past matches.
But Coach Sanni admits that his boys have themselves to blame.
“We were not composed. This is the first time we are seeing our team play like this.
We can’t single out anybody to blame. We were not coordinated until second half.
“Towards the end of the second half, you could see that the game improved for us and we got a goal,” he said.
He however believed that his team would bounce back.
